Hello everyone,

The new season is upon us and the Frazetta Museum is now open on Saturday and Sundays from 11:00am - 4:00pm through the Christmas holiday. The only change for the directions to the gallery is the woodpeckers nursery that was just across the street to the entrance of the museum has been sold and flattened for a new storage business of some kind.

Storage Facility under construction

There will now be large tan concrete block buildings in its place. It is still in construction and I’m not sure how long it will be before completion. Below are some photos of the new site and renovations. We look forward to seeing you.

Mrs. Frazetta has hung a few new paintings and pencil drawings this year as she always does. We have been extremely busy this year with many visitors from Europe and the far east.

The new rock group named Wolfmother has licensed Mr. Frazettas art for the cover and inside singles. The Sea Witch is the cover art and I was invited their opening in Philadelphia on June 2 but was unable to attend. The following Monday they played live on the Tonight Show. We wish them well and look forward to meeting them in the near future.

The most current news with the Dark Kingdom statue looks to be shipped from the orient to me by late August or early sept. There were numerous delays mainly based on the small quantity of the order, Only 250 pieces were pre ordered signed and numbered by Mr. Frazetta. After they are sold out we may offer an addition open run without the signing or numbering.

With just the 250 signed, this would be one of the most sought after collectibles. Below is a finished version of the sculpture done by Steven Lord. He worked closely with my father to be as accurate to the original paintings details as he could. My father was extremely pleased with the finished sculpture. There are other statues in the works that are licensed out, Egyptian Queen, Snow Giants, Moon Maid and I believe the Silver Warrior. I have no information about its completion or price at this time, but I will keep everyone updated on its progress when I know. We are now offering tee shirts and sweat shirts in our line of clothing. To view just go to the gallery store. We have also got back in stock the uncut book markers that are signed and numbered by Mr. Frazetta. Originally they were just stamp signed in a small run but now by numerous fans request we have them personally signed.

I did another painting for my mother this year on Mothers Day. This is going against all my rules of just one a year for a Christmas gift. What can you give a mom who has everything. So I looked at a few of my fathers drawings and decided to make it a bit more complex than just copying a finished painting. So I opened an art book, Alexandra Gallery to be honest, and found a pen and ink that I always loved and decided to put it into an oil painting to add my touch of colors and design. Like I have said numerous times before, to copy something does nothing for me as an artist or person because it not my work even though it was changed for what it was. Its kind of like hitting a home run in a little league ball field. It was a good feeling but not a true accomplishment from within. Although my father feels I could easily become a top artist in any field I choose my true love and desire has never been there. I was brought up that if you don’t put all your effort and love into something then you will never be what you could have been. There is also the comparison of father and son which will be there as long as I live. I could never nor anyone else ever do what my father has done with the fantasy world of illustrations. I admire what my father has done and till this day, after seeing all his paintings a thousand times. It still makes my hair stand up when I see the originals at the museum. The more you are educated about art and anatomy, the more amazing it is how he captures the colors and power in each of the paintings. To copy his art is tough enough, but to imagine this stuff and draw it from start to finish without models or references is truly fascinating.

I was blessed with some of his talents and can foresee many of the paintings in my mind, but I have to learn how to draw. I think painting is quite easy, but to draw figures with the anatomy/muscles is a hole other ball game. Hundreds of fans write me every year and ask how Mr. Frazettas does it and he states it quite simply, I don’t know, I just do it. Kind of like a Nike commercial. After doing a painting or two, you become to another dimension of some sort. Its like being in a zone. You really don’t know what’s going on in the surrounding environment at the time you are working ion the art, you are oblivious to people and things around you. Before you know it your started painting at 7pm and before you know it you look at the clock thinking its around 9 pm and in the morning. it’s a real strange kind of thing but that’s the way it works for me and my dad. I’m not really sure how I did the painting while doing it, but I am aware of what is right and what is wrong while doing it. Then I step back from the picture and say to myself, I can’t believe I just did this. I’m not sure how, but I did it. Its actually pretty cool to look at something you did that came out really good without the know how of how you did it. It I a gift of some kind that can not be acquired from lessons or schooling. It is some sort of subconscious doing the work while my body simply goes through the motions for my mind or thought process. Kind of like a tome machine. You open the door and step in with your paint brush and canvas, close the door and come out in a few hours with a nice painting. Now I’m not sure if this is how others feel when painting but I can agree with what my father says about painting. I have the same thought process as he. The results are dramatically different but through genetics I have the feelings he does after I’m done painting. But drawing on the other hand is not nearly the same,. You must be in the present time to draw and understand the human anatomy. Painting I think you can cheat a bit with colors, washes act. I have like my father used my fingered to smudge colors into others and make shadows with my fingers. I do enjoy the look on my mom and dads face when I give them the picture though. Then I usually get a smack in the head from my dad because I don’t continue with my profession. I would like to fabricate motor cycles at some stage in my life. Or work with a producer and make the Death Dealer movie a reality.
